پر · Persianpar — feather
The name
Before the brand, the cut.
Par is the Persian word for feather — and, by extension, the reed that was cut and shaped into a qalam, the pen of the Persian calligrapher.
For more than a thousand years, before there were brand systems, the qalam was the instrument of identity. A royal decree, a Sufi couplet, a shopkeeper’s sign — each carried the hand of the khattat, and the cut of the par that drew it.
The shape of a single stroke was the brand. Parquen is what that instrument looks like now.
